I’m curious to know what special meals Moroccan families prepare for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Are there any unique dishes I should try making at home for these occasions?

During Eid al-Adha, many Moroccan families prepare Mrouzia, a sweet and savory lamb tagine with almonds, honey, and raisins. It’s flavored with spices like cinnamon and saffron and is a must-try!

For Eid al-Fitr, you’ll often find Seffa Medfouna, which is steamed couscous or vermicelli topped with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and almonds. It’s both sweet and savory and perfect for a special breakfast or dessert.

Mechoui, a whole roasted lamb, is also common for Eid celebrations, particularly Eid al-Adha. It’s slow-roasted and seasoned with cumin, coriander, and garlic.

Another popular dish is Harira soup, especially for Eid al-Fitr. It's made with tomatoes, lentils, chickpeas, and fresh herbs and is usually served after a long day of fasting during Ramadan.
