I’ve just started cooking Moroccan food, and I keep hearing about tagine pots. Do I really need a traditional clay pot to make tagine?

A traditional clay tagine pot is ideal for slow-cooking, but you can also make tagine in a heavy-bottomed Dutch oven or casserole dish if you don’t have one.

While a clay tagine pot is traditional, you can easily cook tagine in a regular pot or Dutch oven. Just make sure to cook it on low heat for the same effect.

You don’t need a clay pot to make tagine; any heavy-bottomed pot will work. However, cooking in a traditional tagine gives the dish a unique flavor and presentation.
