I’m planning a trip to Morocco and want to bring back some high-quality olive oil. Where should I go for the best local, authentic products?

Head to Meknes; it’s known as the olive-growing capital of Morocco. Many family-run farms offer tastings, and you can buy directly from the source.

The region around Essaouira also produces excellent olive oil. You’ll find artisanal varieties sold in the Medina markets.

If you’re near Marrakech, try the local cooperatives that sell pure, organic olive oil. They often have better quality than what’s found in supermarkets.

Fez has some hidden gems for olive oil, especially in the old Medina. Look for shops that press the oil in small batches.
